Trip Description

The Apostle Islands are the Midwest’s top touring destination, and a great place to learn how to camp out of your kayak! For our Inner Islands tour, we’ll kayak to some of the inner loop’s most fascinating destinations including the Sand Island sea caves and lighthouse, the historic Raspberry Island lighthouse, and the magnificent sea cliffs and caves on the mainland. During our trip, paddlers are given the unique opportunity to view and camp on a number of islands including Sand, York, Raspberry, Oak, Stockton, Hermit and Basswood. This experience is most suitable for beginner paddlers who are looking to experience the spectacular beauty of the Apostle Islands by kayak, and camp in some of the northwood’s most pristine sites.

The Inner Islands Tour is rated a GKC Level 2 trip, a beginner sea kayaking tour. On Level 2 trips, participants should be comfortable with introductory skills and be ready for Level 2 training as outlined in our description of ACA L2 training or BCU 2 Star Training. Participants DO NOT need to hold their L2 or 2 Star awards to participate, but would benefit from taking our BCU or ACA Level 2 TRAININGS before the trip. Please call us for more information or with any questions. Our Expeditionary Paddling Trips are for the paddler seeking to develop his or her paddling skills and seamanship while journeying on the sea by kayak. These trips combine both inn accommodations and backcountry camping as we often paddle into remote areas.

Included in the price of the trip is lodging on the first night in Bayfield, kayaks, paddles, sprayskirts, safety kits, tents and outdoor cooking equipment. Sleeping bags and mattresses, personal clothing and paddling gear are not included. The trip is guided by Geneva Kayak's ACA and BCU certified instructors.
