Trip Description
Cumberland Island is the Southeast's premiere sea kayak destination, and a great place to explore and camp! For our Kayak & Camp adventure, we’ll kayak on tidal rivers from the mainland out to Cumberland Island's protected campsites. Once on land, we'll have plenty of time to explore beautiful trails to ruins and empty white sand beaches. This experience is most suitable for beginner paddlers who are looking to experience the warmth and hospitality of the southeast and spectacular beauty of Cumberland Island by kayak.
The Cumberland Kayak & Camp Adventure israted a GKC Level 1-2 trip, a beginner sea kayaking tour. For this trip, participants should be comfortable with GKC L1 Touring Skills as outlined in the GKC L1T Course. Participants DO NOT need to hold their L2 or 2 Star awards to participate, but would benefit from taking our GKC L2T course before the trip. Please call us for more information or with any questions.
Our Expeditionary Paddling Trips are for the paddler seeking to develop his or her paddling skills and seamanship while journeying by kayak. These trips combine both inn accommodations and backcountry camping as we often paddle into remote areas. Included in the price of the trip is lodging on the first night in St. Mary's, kayaks, paddles, sprayskirts, safety kits, and outdoor cooking equipment. Sleeping bags and mattresses, personal clothing and paddling gear are not included. The trip is guided by Geneva Kayak's ACA and BCU certified instructors.
* A tent can be provided upon request.
