Yorkville outdoor center
The Yorkville Outdoor Center is GKC's home base and your destination for Chicago area whitewater! World reknown paddler, instructor and filmaker Kent Ford visited Geneva Kayak in April 2010 and had this to say about the river outside our doorstep:
"Amazing facility with flatwater to class two, plus fun surf waves, all within fifty feet of a classroom... It's the most teaching-friendly of the (20+) whitewater parks I've paddled, like 5 miles of class II river features jammed into a city park."
This amazing facility is located within an easy drive of the entire Chicagoland, and we've seen visitors drive from St. Louis, central Illinois and Milwaukee to play in the waters of the park. Yorkville is the new destination for people learning how to whitewater kayak or canoe and for experienced paddlers looking to get their "local fix"! Beyond whitewater kayaking and canoeing, Yorkville is a new "hot spot" for fun and adventure! Head to Yorkville for a whitewater tubing or rafting adventure or to start a kayak or canoe tour down one of the most beautiful stretches of the Fox River!
What Can I do in Yorkville?
Whitewater PaddlingYorkville is the perfect location to learn the sports of whitewater kayaking and whitewater canoeing! As an ACA Pro School, GKC offers whitewater courses (kayaking, canoeing and rescue) throughout the months of April through September.Knowledgeable, experienced and friendly instructors provide amazing experiences where your learning, fun and safety is top priority!
In addition to our courses, canoeists and kayakers find Yorkville to be a great location to refine skills, practice beginner playboating moves and grab a quick run. The character of the river changes with water levels. Features are more retentive and playble when under 1000cfs, but the river is runnable at all levels. Please call us at 630-882-9211 if you have any questions about this stretch of river!rent a tube or a raft for a great afternoon of fun on the water! This stretch of riverways is approximately 100 yards long (a football field) and you can run as many "laps" as you want! Adventurers from 5 years old to 80 years old have enjoyed this fun stretch of whitewater so please call or email us to set up your rental!
half day tours every Thursday and Sunday and would be happy to arrange a custom tour for your group if Thursday or Sunday doesn't work for you! Tours include boats, paddles, lifejackets, guides and a shore lunch!
